'Questo brano rappresenta per me una sorta di liberazione, non riesco a non battere il piede quando l'ascolto - dice The Niro - e mi sembra particolarmente indicato per questi tempi in cui possiamo pian piano riprendere in mano le redini della nostra vita'. 
Malign Fiesta (No Soul) è la traccia numero 9 di The complete Jeff Buckley & Gary Lucas songbook, l'album uscito lo scorso ottobre per l'etichetta Esordisco (ed ora in distribuzione anche negli Stati Uniti e in molti paesi europei), e che vede per la prima volta insieme tutte le canzoni scritte da Jeff Buckley e Gary Lucas durante gli anni della loro collaborazione. Il brano è contenuto nella raccolta 'Songs to no one' (Jeff Buckley e Gary Lucas) pubblicata nel 2002, e Gary Lucas lo racconta così nel suo libro Touched by Grace: 'un pezzo hardcore-trash folkeggiante che resta uno dei preferiti dai fan di Jeff, per quanto riguarda il repertorio scritto con me'. 
Una canzone con colori che riportano a sonorità punk, e che ci mostrano un aspetto inedito della scrittura di Jeff Buckley. Un testo politico, che irrompe con energia e attacca senza mezze misure l'uomo che si fa forte contro i deboli (You're just the same as those fat old bastards you hate/with no soul), demolendo ogni stereotipo razzista.

The Niro è il nome del progetto musicale dell'artista italiano Davide Combusti, protagonista della scena indie-rock dal 2002. Al suo attivo ha 4 album di cui 3 in inglese. Lo ritroviamo in apertura dei concerti di Sondre Lerche, Tom Hingley di Inspiral Carpets, Deep Purple, Lou Barlow, Badly Drawn Boy e Amy Winehouse. 
Gary Lucas è considerato uno dei più influenti chitarristi americani di sempre. Può vantare un capitolo rilevante nella carriera di Jeff Buckley col quale ha composto le storiche Grace e Mojo Pin.
